This group covers Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and other Asian cuisines that are not Chinese, and the etiquette varies by kitchen. Japanese and Korean restaurants often take reservations for dinner and may add a service charge for large groups; Thai and Vietnamese spots are usually walk-in and quick-turnover. Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Korean BBQ restaurants typically charge per person for all-you-can-eat service with a time limit, and grills are shared at the table. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. Card and tap-to-pay are widely accepted; cash-only is more common at small family-run counters.

Staten Island is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Staten Island peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Taste of India II has been a Staten Island staple since 1990 and it is easy to see why it has lasted. I came in with a friend and the atmosphere immediately set the tone, warm lighting, welcoming energy, not a wait staff that rushes you through. We ordered the chicken tikka masala, which arrived rich, smoky, and generous with sauce, alongside naan that was fresh and perfectly charred. My friend had the lamb korma with a carrot dessert on the side and both dishes were well portioned and full of flavor. The staff deserve real credit here, they walked us through the menu with genuine patience and helped us choose dishes we would not have picked on our own. We finished with kheer and a chai tea latte, a comforting close to the meal even though the kheer did not stand out as much as the rest of the food. Between the food, the atmosphere, and especially the service, this is a spot worth returning to on Staten Island.

Every time we visit my in-laws, I try to go here for dinner. It is without a doubt some of the best Indian food I have ever had. Typically Iβll get the chicken madras, since they donβt use dairy, medium spice level and Iβll get a side of garlic naan. Weβll also sometimes get a vegetable and meat samosa. They also give you a type of cracker with 3 different sauces to use with it. My personal favorite is the red and the green is a close second. I love ordering takeout from here but going in person is great as well!

They came out with this complementary basket of what I believe was papadam that was really good and fresh. However, we got the most basic mains like the butter chicken and chicken tikka masala and the chicken was over cooked. As for the sauce, it was actually not spicy enough. I normally donβt eat spicy food and I still think there couldβve been more of a kick to them.

As a frequent traveler who lives in New York City with access to many top Indian restaurants, I am quite fortunate to be a regular at Taste of India, where authentic dishes are created by natives who are expert in the cuisine. I start with a cocktail, and my wife and I have had many great ones, which is one of the surprises that awaits you at the restaurant. In the photos, you can see my chocolate martini, replete with chocolate powder, chilled, and a cookie. Itβs delicious every time. When I finish it, and I do so rather fast, I am always asked if I want another, yet Itβs strong enough that I have to stop at one, since Iβm the driver. Iβm a lightweight! I then shift to appetizers, beginning with Nan. I can assert with great confidence that a few if any make it better. Iβve tried nan everywhere and none compare. Itβs crispy, itβs hot, itβs buttery, itβs flavorful, there are many flavors to choose from. Itβs seasoned perfectly. Another favorite appetizer β shown here in the photos, is vegetable Samosa. It is always served hot it is sort of an amazing Indian version of a knish. Delicious! For dinner, I typically get the tandoori chicken, which is hearty, perfectly cooked, and se
